Connector Accessories

Accessories are parts that attach to a Connector housing to provide additional functionality such as electrical termination, sealing, retention, and strain relief.

There are several types of connector accessories supported by harness.design:

• Contact - A conductive element inserted into a connector cavity to establish an electrical connection with a mating contact.
• Lock - A secondary locking device that prevents contact backout and ensures reliable retention within the connector housing.
• Dust Cover - A protective cap fitted to an unmated connector to prevent contamination and protect the contacts.
• Boot - A flexible seal fitted to the rear of a connector for strain relief and environmental protection of the cable entry.
• Backshell - A rigid or semi-rigid enclosure fitted to the rear of a connector for cable termination, strain relief, shielding, and environmental protection.
